The New Routes Integration Project has provided services to asylum seekers, refugees and other ethnic minorities, since the summer of 2005 and has a strong local reputation.  We work in partnership with many statutory and voluntary organisations, and are members of several local networks including the Voluntary Sector Refugee Network for the East of England, the multi-agency, Norwich refugee forum, Norfolk Council for Voluntary Youth Services and the Learning for Life in Norfolk Partnership,  which enables us to develop and share best practice across the region.
We provide pastoral support specific to the needs of each family group or young person and practical, creative projects and clubs for all age groups with the aim of finding individual paths to social integration and increasing personal confidence. Many activities are run from our community workshop, a 30 metre long, studio space in central Norwich, which was jointly renovated by refugees and asylum seekers, and members of the local community.
New Routes also delivers training to organisations working with ethnic minorities, designed to aid and support community cohesion. It gives a clear understanding of different immigration categories, entitlements and the reality of settling into a new country and culture.  Please contact the Interface Learning office if your organisation or group would like more information about this training.
